Sculptures – Connection

These acrylate sculptures were created in response to the Chinese myth about the common thread. In this legend, solidarity between people is portrayed by a red thread. It is a representation of “destiny”, which binds people together and ensures that they will meet each other at some point in the future. Stigter incorporates organic, abstract patterns derived from flowers, trees and DNA in her red sculptures. The sculpture with many openings overlaps the edited photo in the background. This creates depth in the perspective and invites visitors to look in a different way.
