Berlin – The Connection

Birgit Stigter photographed in Berlin and in Beijing and thought about the similarities between these imperial cities. This resulted in two series, one in colour and the other in black and white. Beijing is a fast-growing Asian metropolis that continues to open its windows to the world, while Berlin can be described as an old city in constant development. Both cities have a world-renowned wall, one of which has been torn down while the other can still be accessed daily. Beijing and Berlin also attract attention because of their vibrant cultural life.
